Etymology
Thai - From Middle Khmer biroḥ ~ biyaroḥ (“to resound; to be resounding, sonorous, full, sweet-sounding, melodious”), probably an anomalous expansion of Khmer ព្រោះ (prŭəh, “to sow, to broadcast”). Related to พิเราะ, เพราะ (prɔ́), ไพเราะ (pai-rɔ́).
